There were tables in the little dining room, bowls of meats piled on them for the hatchlings. It was a time to celebrate and make friends, since Weyrling Training was looming over head.
Across the tables of meats were buckets of water for washing hands and tables of other foods. Freash breads, large plates of cooked meat, vegetables... The feast would be a wonderful time for meeting others and eatting.

Rei had left Kertinath in the barracks, as the little silver was still very sleepy from...eating. so Rei chose to attend alone. this really wasn't her thing, but free food was something she could never pass up. she was muching on a pear, and hoping the rest of TRSS had done their jobs.

Siera walked in. As usual blue Chikath was in the barrack sleeping. Siera saw Rei and walked up to her. "Hi." she said as she looked around.

Rei smiled and pushed a chair next to her out far enough that Siera could sit. "hey."

Neou did not make a grand entrance, nor did she have her fair of beasts. Rather, she walked in with her head held downwards almost modestly, though she was in fact hiding conflicting emotions. When Elenath awoke, the dragon would not let her think these thoughts, would grow jealous. One day. A few hours, and already my thoughts focus upon one of male kind. I will make the best of it however. I will do what I must. I have had lovers before. They are not worth the fuss. And he did say he would come... Suddenly hopefull, Neou sat herself down gently, almost waiting for the Weyrwoman to command her to play for the Hatching Feast. Neou would gladly oblige, as long as she received the dance she suddenly wanted so badly. Why? He has a Weyrmate, does he not? He is the Junior Weyrleader, or so I think. Ruvna is his Weyrmate, and she is not so bad, not as bad as others I have seen. Quiet perhaps, a bit flirty, but not so bad. She deserves the bronzerider, not myself.

Walking into the dining room with a glance about, a look of rememberance came across the bronzerider's face. Ah, but he did remember his first after-impression feast. It had been a rather grand occasion, to say the least. Everyone talked and gossiped about their newly impressed hatchlings, barely able to constrain themselves when thoughts of future flights into the deepening blue sky took hold and would not let go. With a grand sigh, he felt Gareth's mind within his own. ~That day was ours.~ The bronze sent along with a variety of swirling colors, and a smile slid onto K'roi's face because of it.

Rei looked at Siera, narrowed her eyes and whispered "has the wherry landed?" in the lowest voice she could muster. there was a chance she was talking about operation:grape juice, but there was an equal chance she was just bored and babbling about something. she did that a lot.it could have been a tactful plan to throw people off. or it could be babble. the descion is in the hands of the reader. this narrator doubts she knew what she was asking herself. she might have even meant a real wherry!

Ruvna walked in, eyes looking about as if trying to remember her first Hatching Feast. Of course it had been less merry, definitly. But it was still a moment to be remebered. She smiled, thinking about all the weyr folk crouding around her, asking her about Fannith. Ah, that was wonderful, that feeling of pure happyness when minds came togeather. That day and night she felt she would burst with happyness, well, she also felt that now, just by remembering.
I think I shall rest. All the noise is getting to me.
This was infact, the first hatching here, for it takes a queen 3 years to fly anyone. And what a grand Hatching it was. She still wore the Hatching dress that Fannith wanted her to wear, light sliver, much like the hide of Fannith. She prefered the normal breeches and tunic she most often wore, but this was a special feast, time to dress up. She moved towards K'roi and touched him lightly on the shoulder. 'Dance with her. You said you would' She whispered jokeingly to him, a smile on her face. She knew he always kept his word.

Hurry mine, hurry!
If you don't stop bumping me I'm gonna fall.[/i]
And he did. M'raz fell into the Hatching feast. Inuth scrambled around him his eyes swirling with concern. The bronze nudged the side of his frail looking bonded. M'raz threw his arms around the bronze's neck.
I'm sorry Mine! The dragonet crooned sadly, burying his face in M'raz's chest. I'm sorry! I should have stopped!
It's okay.[/i] M'raz scratched the dragonet's eyeridges. Then he stood up again. He strode to the tables, Inuth following beside.

Carefully, warily, Neou watched the others who entered the Kitchens. Gathers were one thing, a large crowd of people in an enclosed space another. And there was another factor... Neou's only accomplished dance was the toss-dance. Difficult for some, but essentially much more simple then the stately dances Neou had neither the time nor the patience to learn. Well, surely K'roi could dance... He had granted her that much, granted he had a Weyrmate. Setting your goals so high? Though the Masterharper could not have actually been in that room, Neou knew his teasing voice, echoing in her head. She had heard those words many times before, and was well used to them. Yes, I am setting my goals high. You will be something else lass. Something else entirely. When one looks at you, they see first nothing, but something compells them, does it not? Something exotic, different from what they expect. Now if only that sorrow would fade from your eyes... That will never happen, with all due respect. I cannot forget the past as easily as some can.

Ikynath was resting back at Ichigo's weyr while the Weyrwoman sat, watching the Weyrlings as they ate. They needed alot of food and she was eagar to see how many of them had impress flitters and other critters before the hatching.

Tara entered as regally as if she had just been made Weyrwoman, instead of being a lowly Weyrling. Ikonath, who was small enough to accompany her into the building(for now,at least),trotted along beside her. Tara was bedecked in gather best, fancy hairstyle and all. She had decided to forgoe the old tradition and was wearing a red dress, although some considered it bad luck. The only creature accompanying her besides Ikonath was her gold flitt,Mia. The newly hatched syphers were asleep in the barracks, having been fed earlier, and who would ever bring a wher or a feline to a feast? Quickly she took a seat with her fellow weyrlings, wondering if anyone would ask her to dance.
K'tran was the next to make his entrance to the feast. As always,he was cheery, but more so than usual now. For one,he had just impressed, and for another, this was a feast-so many people! Rhiroth was excited as well, but more for the fact that his rider was than anything else. Parties were definitely on K'tran's list of favorite things, right up there with dragons and flitts and cookies.
And right in the center of things, there was the headwoman Maliana. She all but danced around the tables, serving food and ducking into the kitchen at regular intervals to be sure that everything was going smoothly. It wouldn't do to botch the hatching feast!

The Feast was lacking something... Of course! It lacked music. Bedecked in a gown of Harper blue that fully complimented her figure, and her mismatched eyes(for Neou had felt very strange having been the only one to come to the feast wearing her old work clothes), Neou waited. Why did the Weyrharper not strike up a tun... Oh. I am the Weyrharper. Running to go get her gitar, Neou carefully took it back with reverance. It was not really hers, but Lemel's. Had it really been a month since had had died? His body had been crushed in a mining incident, where a proud miner had evidentally faulted as he showed the visiting Harper a mine shaft that had fallen in on itself. That, Neou reflected, had been one of the worst days of my life. And that memory still haunts me. His face, so pale, his hair no longer a shock of red... Why? Why did he have to die? Any other could have, but fate chose to take him from me. Playing a few chords just to tune the gitar, Neou soon started a lively melody, wishing very much that she could be out there dancing with her chosen partner. But playing was relaxing too, and memories of the past did not haunt her so much during the duration. Voice suddenly coming into song, Neou recalled why she enjoyed singing so much. Well, part of the reason was that it was enjoyable, but she supposed a great majority of it was because she was excellent at singing. A Harper had to be, if that Harper wished to excell in all facets of their career. Voice pure and sweet, Neou carefully watched the others as she played and sang purely for their enjoyment. Her russet orb followed the figure of K'roi, who reminded her in a strange way of Lemel. But he was different, and Neou found herself attracted in a way she did not like to the bronzerider.

Hevina walked in, looking, well, not very..eh....splended in the wonderful green gown she had been forced into. Well, she would have looked splended in it, if she had bothered to walk right, not slump, the list goes on and on. Witta had curled herself around Hevina's neck, and chirruped in her ear, telling her to behave. Hevina sighed and did what she was told. Now she looked grand, not as good as some others could be, but nice all the same. It was a harsh life, she desided, before slipping into a nearby chair and looking out though the curtain of hair.
